John's Political Activity essentially began in 1992 when he was elected to the Board of Directors of his Home Owners Association.  John served five years as President  and one year as Treasurer.

While representing the Association, John gave testimony at council meetings and negotiated contracts with the city.  In one case, John negotiated to reduce an annual tax assessment and when the bargaining was concluded, the assessment was eliminated. Top Of Page

John was elected to the Board of Directors of the San Diego Police Officers Association in December 1995 and took office the following January.  The San Diego Police Officers Association is the recognized bargaining unit for over 2000 police officers and has an annual budget of more than 5 million dollars. 

John served two years as Treasurer and one year as General Manager. He represented the association in Sacramento as the Director at Large for the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC).  PORAC represents approximately 50,000 law enforcement professionals in the state of California and Nevada.  

John met with Federal, State and Local legislators to encourage passing laws that enhanced member benefits and protect citizens. Top Of Page
